Raphael (Raffaele Monti)

My first oilpainter is Raphael (Raffaele Monti). He was born in Urbino on 6 April 1483, the son of Giovanni Santi, one of the most esteemed painters and thinkers at the court of Urbino. About 1500 it is almost certain that he was a pupil of Pietro Perugino, who was his tutor and guide in both artistic and intellectual matters.

St sebastian

It was certainly painted before 1504. its exact date is difficult to esablish, though the scale of the modelling suggest the years 1502-3, when Rapahelś relationship with Perugino was at its closest.
